Making The Switch

Now that we are ninety percent done with Sugarcube's nursery, I'm starting to freak out a bit! This is really happening--- She's growing up. She'll no longer be in mommy and daddy's room, ekk!

The first night we stayed in this new house, my husband set up the pack'n'play in her new room, which I asked him to, trying to appear like a brave mommy...However, fifteen minutes later, staring at her little snuggle nest in this sterile white room with no feel good sensations of coziness and comfort, I raced downstairs in a quiet panic, hugged my husbands arm and pathetically asked him to take down her bed (AGAIN) and find a place for it in our overly crowded room. We hadn't even put OUR bed up yet; the room was in such CRAZY disarray with boxes, bed frames and furniture sprawled out everywhere, but that awesome hubby of mine did it. He found a little nook for her to sleep in, which made me uber happy and in return, I SLEPT like a baby, ha!

Having her nursery almost done has me doubling back to that panicked, pathetic mom of two weeks ago. Sure, technically she doesn't NEED her window valance put up or the rest of her nicknack's displayed in order to be moved into her nursery BUT.... I keep telling myself that it'll feel more like a cozy room once those things are done and she won't feel like mommy and daddy abandoned near her as much, right???

And sure, she doesn't NEED pictures of her adorable face hanging from every wall before the move, but what if she NEEDS just one more week in our room? Yah know.... Just in case she suddenly develops breathing issues. What if she suddenly forgets to breath or worse, has muscle failure and can't lift her precious head from the mattress, to breath!!!

I mean I'm already thinking of changing out her perfectly good audio monitor for one of those snazzy video do-dads. And not only that but also get one of those machines that sit (kinda creepily) under their crib to make sure they're breathing through the night. Surely you don't think I'm kidding!

And then there's the issue of---- things that go thump in the night---What if she has her first run in with the boogie man and mommy and daddy aren't there to save the day:(

R and I were talking in bed, last night, about the transition and how weird it's going to be having her out of our room; she'll be all the way upstairs while we're on the bottom floor, panic panic!!! He made a comment that involved the word "security" and I fired back,

" I know! That's why I'm giving her another week. So she has more time to feel secure about this!"

He looks at me and says, " No, I meant security. As in intruders and possible harm."

OOOOOHH! Why did God make men and women so different...

I'll let you know how this goes but in the mean time, look at this precious little chunk "attempting" to nap in her new crib. Doesn't look to be too successful;)

Ahhhh, that's better baby girl:)

Baby Bump Enthusiasts Beware

Full disclaimer: This post is about my experience with pregnancy as a first time mom. The good, the bad and the unexpected. These are the opinions, thoughts and feelings of me, Rebekah G, as the individual I am. This is MY blog. If you are one of the many who romanticized pregnancy, as I did, and would like to remain in that warm, dreamy bubble, this is your exit. I acknowledge that we are all different in style. We all handle these 9 months differently. I also realize that what I say here may be LARGELY unaccepted by many and looked down on for voicing such raw, honest material. For all of my disapproving readers, before commenting, please re-read the above statement and choose your words carefully. I have in no way, claimed my feelings and opinions as a direct reflection of you or sold my thoughts as your thoughts. If you are not completely freaked out at this point, please read on! I swear I'll stop talking like a mechanical robot just as soon as you scroll a few spaces down:) Thank you!

We are definitely in the thick of this journey at 24 weeks, ekk! I can't believe we'll be meeting our baby girl in 16 weeks or less! This is going so crazy fast, but I'm so excited to start "that" part of this journey...It's no secret in my household that "pregnancy" does not suite me nor do I make it look good for those of you who have yet to carry a little one in your tum tum. I really am sorry! My sister Mary says to me "if I ever had any romantic ideas about being pregnant, I definitely don't now." It was said in a joking manner but I still feel bad that I couldn't be that girl for her. I wanted to be that girl for myself and for all of you looking on. I really did! The one who glows and laughs all the time and who is as big as a pumpkin yet still exudes sexiness...Yeah, that girl:) Unfortunately it wasn't in the cards for me.

Sad face!

How you'll deal with all the emotional and physical changes really depends on the type of person you are. I am many things that do not mesh well with growing a fetus: positive, driven, CONFIDENT, motivated, goal oriented, always on the go, I can't STAND to be unhappy and will do anything in my power to change the situation for the better. See where I'm going with this? No, probably not seeing as all of these things are GREAT when dealing with change. But that's just it! In my experience so far, being pregnant changes EVERYTHING about you!!! When you LIKED the person you were before, that can be a very bad mix! I guess I'll take 9 months of fighting to like myself vs. a lifetime of not liking myself only to be happy when I'm pregnant, haha! No brainer there...

It certainly didn't help that we got pregnant 5 weeks before I would be ripped up, up rooted and moved 3,000 miles away.... Oh I LOVE change y'all. I LOVE the uncertainty of moving, changing jobs, meeting a different type of people, not knowing whats around me or even where the closest grocery store is...The military lifestyle fits me 100%...Or should I say, the old non pregnant me;) But this new me is something just out of this world! The old me fights to bite the head off all of these new icky, foreign feelings living inside me. Those little pesticides are labeled as: Insecure, needy, emotional, unmotivated, mopey, restless, did I say insecure? Lets not forget, the growing belly, ass, boobs, increasing cellulite and diminishing neck...My sweet younger brother likes to say that it looks like a women got hit by a bag of quarters when referring to cellulite. Lucky for him, he refrained from that line while I was visiting back home:)

Lets talk about life outside my front door...Those changes have been the hardest to deal with so far, because I no longer have a reason to go OUTSIDE my front door. I lost a really good job in Georgia due to this PCS. Granted, I didn't LOVE that job but I was at least making money, being challenged, climbing the corporate ladder, had LOADS of responsibility and felt proud of my accomplishments! I had things and a life to talk about when I got home!!!! Where as now I don't talk much about anything. Who really wants to hear about how many times I scrubbed the kitchen sink today. Or how I sat on the couch all day watching Kardashian reruns while refreshing my Facebook page every 2 seconds to see if someone posted something new or maybe wants to talk. Okay, it's not as dire as I make it sound, but it feels that dire!

What I really miss the most, is having options...Sigh... Before, I had the option to go running until I couldn't breath anymore. I was allowed to raise my heartbeat above 140 beats per minute, if I felt like it, and not worry about over heating. I could eat an entire cake if I wanted to because I could just starve myself after and kick my butt with p90x for a week to make up for it...Screwed up yes, but it was an option! I could eat the entire cake now, but starving myself is no longer an option, lol...The minute my stomach lets out a low grumble, baby kicks me in the left ovary until I fix the problem...I'm not sure if it's because she's hungry or my growling belly is interrupting her quite time;)

And last but not least, lets talk about how this new you is effecting your husband and marriage...Oh yes, We're going there!

R is used to our life as a very independent couple. We love being around each other but we also enjoy our time away doing other things. I believe Dr. Phil would say we have the good kind of marriage; no co-dependency here! R is also used to his wife being the confident, happy, always on the go, energetic ball of electricity that he married...However, what he has right now is an insecure, weepy, sad, unmotivated little girl with no life, no friends, wanting all of his time and pillow talk EVERY night...***Every man in their right mind just peed their pants and is wincing in pain at reading this. Even (I) feel compassion for you babe:) Truth be told, if the roles were reversed, I would be a bit freaked out right about now! In fact, I AM FREAKED OUT!!! The changes you make while pregnant definitely effect your marriage. I wasn't ready for that but it was unrealistic to think that everything would remain the same when you have changed the whole playing field! It's like that awful "switch" men talk about...Where the woman "switches" once a commitment is made and it changes the whole dynamic of the relationship. That's what I'm imagining it feels like to my husband right about now. The hateful thing is, the "switch" was without my approval...Bastard! Being out of control sucks y'all...

This is my last paragraph and I wanted it to be about the good; to reassure all of my family and friends who love me that this baby is VERY LOVED ALREADY and not being born to an insane person...I'm only insane right now;)

I do realize the above reading was a little rough, but I just want to clarify that all of my gripes, and not so pleasant observations has everything to do with the "pregnancy" and NOT my child...Those are two completely different things! I am in love with this little girl♥ I love her, not so little, kicks and even my growing belly because I know that means shes getting bigger! I have several moments of panic a day at the thought of loosing her...I feel so protective of her and all her tiny toes, and fingers...All of the vitamins and water and eating right, I no longer do for me but for her...I can't wait to hold her swaddled little body!!! I absolutely love watching TLC's "A Baby Story" and seeing pictures of friends posting their new additions just so I can gush over their sweet newborns. I'm getting really anxious to meet our sugar cube. REALLY ANXIOUS! I no longer have fear over the day I go into labor because the thought of what that means is way more exciting!!!! So yes, pregnancy has been less then memorable for me individually...I can say that and sleep at night. I'm okay with it...I don't beat myself up about it! Because I know it has everything to do with being limited, emotional and seeing changes that I wasn't prepared for. It has, in no way, anything to do with our little girl♥

P.S three days ago I put into effect "Operation Get Becca Back" so hopefully by the time dust has settled on this post, I'll be the old me again:) Feeling better already!

Baby "G" Finally Has A Gender!

If your a friend or family member on Facebook you already know what I'm about to say, BUT for everyone else..........................................The results are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Baby "G" is a GIRL!!!!!! This is our sweet little girl at 22 weeks exactly!!!

The ultrasound tech said she had SUPER long legs at this point, which means R can take credit for that...I am so happy for her and those legs! She's going to LOVE her daddy for them. She is a healthy weight, just over a pound and was moving pretty much the entire ultrasound:) Some movement is good during an ultrasound but a squirmy baby makes it hard to get images:p She's a little ball of energy already, just like her mommy!

Speaking of 22 weeks!!!!

I think I look bigger then I actually am here, but that could just be wishful "seeing." :)

Now back to Baby "G" being a girl and COMPLETELY surprising daddy and I both!!!! I had my reasons for being so convinced. I DID! They always say the boy swimmers get the egg first and with our timing, that SHOULD have been the case. Apparently Baby "G" wanted to be a girl badly though, because she beat out all the boys:p She might turn out to be quite the athlete! Not to mention this little sugar cube craved MAN food...Like meat and potatoes ya'll...I thought that was a sure sign, but my husband so kindly reminded me that the baby might just have my blood type. My blood type thrives on man food;)

Then there was the infamous DREAM...Yes, I dreamt of our blonde headed little boy, running at break neck speed to get away from mommy and daddy and his clothes...The dream even came complete with a name; Surprisingly, R and I both loved it! That sealed it for me... I'm a huge visual learner and I use visuals to also connect with things. So, I decided that baby "G" was a boy, HA!

There wasn't any gender disappointment really, just a thoughtful moment of "huh..." because of the reasons above;) R is a little more then bummed that his Tonka toy shopping days were short lived, but even he is excited for our little girl.

We never talked about girl names seriously because we were THAT sure it was a boy, so now starts the fun part! I really hope finding a name for her won't be as painful as I think it'll be, but I think I'm just fooling myself...R and I have such different tastes in names. He's more of a traditionalist with names and I like to blaze my own trails;) To give you an idea, here is six names I've come up with...

Quinn Harper
Andi Marie
Avery Joelle or Noelle
Savannah Eve
Jaime Mckenna
Jada Marie

R has already said "no" to Quinn Harper, which was my favorite:( But the rest might get a second look. I plan to dig deep this weekend, which so happens to be my birthday weekend! Maybe R will oblige me for more then the usual 10 minutes as a birthday wish?

I already have a great idea for the nursery, which is not the traditional pink and purple room, but more of a cheerful yellow done in sunflowers ( my favorite) speckled with a few lady bugs (R's idea.) I can't wait to put it all together and take pictures!

So we're really excited here at the Baby "G" household and already attached to the idea of our sugar cube being a girl! One mom told me that shopping will take on a whole new meaning and I think she might be right. I'm already itching to skip down the isles of pink and purple and sunny shine shine yellow...I will try to refrain until my mother, father and sister in-law fly in for Christmas though. What better fun then to go shopping for girl stuff with a bunch of girls!

Happy November everyone!!!

Taking It Easy

I made it back to Washington from Tennessee LATE Monday night and boy was I exhausted. It didn't help that I had a doctors appointment the next morning! I went in long enough for the usual blood pressure, weight and baby's heart beat check but left after that, due to exhaustion and high blood pressure. I came in at 140/100 where as last month I was 109/63...Big difference! The doctors were a bit concerned so I am going to our nearest fire department 5 days in a row to have it monitored, fun fun:)

I wasn't surprised though. The last weekend I was in Tennessee my dad had a very serious stroke that kept my stress levels very high for 4 days. I had to fly home so my sister, who was watching our dogs, could fly back and have her chance with dad...He was very blessed to have lived and even more blessed to be improving as much as he is!!! I give all that credit to God and the many prayers sent by family and friends...

So I'm all alone in this house trying to pass the days until R comes back in from the field...That should be either tomorrow or the next, yaya! I haven't seen him for 3 weeks, boo! Since returning I've been doing a lot of resting, walking our dogs, catching up on t.v shows and A LOT of Facebooking, lol...I hope all this chill-axing reflects in my blood pressure readings the next 5 days...So far it's dropping but not as drastic as I was hoping.

BABY is doing good it seems, which was something that concerned me through all of this...I've been having contraction like back pains that also gives me annoying cramping if I don't lay down. The doctor seems to think I need more water even though I'm drinking 80 oz a day and that doesn't include other drinks like tea, juice etc...Guess this baby is a glutton for liquid! I've gained a total of 16 pounds so far and I believe it! Yesterday I hit 21 weeks and feel bigger then ever...I've really hit a point in all of this though; I no longer care about things like weight and shots and all the inconvenient things in pregnancy, just as long as the baby comes out healthy! My protective mommy side is definitely showing:)

I REALLY miss things like sushi and wine, mmmmmm! I would sell my left arm for a good glass of Moscato paired with a relaxing fire and my hubby's arms right now, sigh...Baby "G" is kicking and moving everyday...The kicks are getting hard enough that R should be able to feel them when he gets home! I plan to eat a banana and watch the action unfold;) Baby loves bananas and kicks me sooooo hard about 5 minutes after eating it. I love the movements but I won't lie, sometimes they startle me, making me jump...lol...I can't help but laugh on the strong ones because I don't know what else to do!

My Tylenol pm is starting to kick in so I'll end here...Sorry I don't have a belly picture update. I promise to get one in at 22 weeks! Six more days until we find out what our little one's sex is! I can't wait to experience our first look at baby and find out what we're having!!!!!

Goodnight all...

I'm Still Alive!

OH MY GOSH! I can't believe I haven't updated my belly shot since week 11! For some reason I was thinking I had done a 13 week update...Shrugs... Mommy's been really bad Baby "G" but I'm finally back and this is me at 15 weeks! I don't think much has changed since 11 weeks, except you're definitely bigger and my belly has gotten MUCH harder!

I think I just look pudgy from the front but as soon as I turn sideways, you can definitely see the POP out.

I've hit some pretty big mile stones this week. Three days ago I actually felt you move! I know the doctors say its too early but mommy knows her Baby;) You didn't actually touch my belly from the inside, like most people experience, but I experienced the sensation of you moving. It felt like a little ball doing a REALLY fast somersault in there and it was the coolest thing! I was talking to daddy when it happened; he saw the expression on my face and immediately asked if it was the baby moving. I must have looked really surprised!

In addition, I have A LOT more of my energy back and I couldn't be happier! I've gone the past two days with no naps and have kept myself pretty busy.

I made it to my first doctors appointment last month which I couldn't have been happier about. R went with me and we got to hear Baby's heart beat! I guess your a one fetus show Baby "G" because your heartbeat was the only one we heard. So no twins for us! The doctor found your thumping ticker IMMEDIATELY! Daddy says the Doppler barely touched mommy's stomach when it came across loud and clear. We were grinning from ear to ear, listening, knowing you're such a strong baby. The doctor was surprised she found it so suddenly! Afterwards I went through all the yucky stuff like giving my weight in blood and all those exams. I guess everything is looking good because mommy hasn't heard anything back from those tests. See, I'm healthy and strong too baby!

My last update, you were the size of a lime Baby "G!"

4 weeks later and at 15 weeks, you're the size of a navel orange!

Thebump.com says you're moving like crazy in there and your legs are finally longer than your arms! You have all working joints now too:) I'm looking forward to week 16 because you'll finally be able to hear the sound of mommy and daddy talking; how cool!

In other news, I'll be flying home to Tennessee early October to visit family before this baby arrives and before I'm restricted from flying. I'm so excited for this visit. Sure, I saw everyone 2 months ago but I was really disappointed at my energy and excitement level back then. I was so miserable with all day sickness. I didn't feel like I got a really good visit in. My family all understood, but still. This one is going to be WAY better. I am my old happy self again:)

Until next time!

The Baby Bump

11 weeks, 5 days and I think its safe to say I finally have the baby bump!

Don't let the first picture fool you. Just look at this side shot and WOAHA belly!

I think it looks like I ate one too many donuts at this point. So I do a lot of belly rubbing. Ya know.... To let people know there's a baby on board;)

Things are finally starting to get better in the nausea department. We made it to Washington 2 weeks ago and now that I have my bed back, I'm less tired and I feel more energized. I guess that's also because my second trimester is just 2 weeks away! I finally have my first doctors appointment set for the 29th, so in eight days I'll be officially, medically, on the road to having this baby!

People keep asking me what my maternal instinct is on Baby's sex and I have to say a BOY! of course, every mom has an idea of what they think they're having. Some are right and some are wrong. I guess we'll find out for sure around week 19!

My diet has been pretty awesome so far. I get the uncontrollable hunger. Sure. But lucky for me, I can't engorge myself. I can only eat small portions, otherwise I get sick. I've been eating WAY healthy with this baby. More then I ever have. Not really by conscience effort, although that was the plan, but more because healthy foods is what I'm craving. Lot's of protein, yummy veggies and some fruits. Sadly, I'm still lactose intolerant.

Oh and according to my preggo dreams, R and I are having twins and it's a boy and a girl:) I guess my maternal instincts wouldn't be incorrect on the sex of Baby "G" if that were true, ha! I would be in total shock if we went in and heard two heart beats, for realz! But it would be cool to get our boy and girl in one swoop, or many dozen pushes, and be done;) I SOOOO do not believe we're having twins for one second, but thought it would be fun to share!

R is finally home and I'm excited to ask him about his first day and what they have him doing. I'll be sure to update everyone as soon as I know more about the baby and if I hear 2 heart beats, haha! Have a great and wonderful rest of the week everyone!

On The Road

I promise I didn't mean to skip week 7 and 8 updates and photos. Truth be told, I had my head consistently in the toilet and couldn't even THINK about taking pictures of my expanding belly or blogging...Most likely I'll miss week 9's update too, ONLY because we'll be on the road headed toward Washington!! It's finally here. All the packing has been done and our stuff is well on it way out there already. We will be saying "goodbye" to Georgia tomorrow and hello to somewhere Tennessee; most likely Memphis. I will be taking a 9 week photo on Wednesday and promise to post them as soon as I reach Washington or a good Internet connection;)

Just a quick update on me and Baby "G." We haven't had any scares and are doing really well, I think, considering that we haven't seen a doctor yet. That will happen around week 12, if I had to guess. I'm sick as a dog though, for sure. Other then that, achy joints and NO ENERGY, things are normal. I really cannot wait to get my energy back and stop moping around the house, ha! I'm usually a really high energy individual, so to feel like I can barley walk, going on 4 weeks now, feels very strange and is getting annoying! My husband keeps saying he wants his hyper wife back and I agree! I have a VERY TIGHT minimal diet right now. I have apparently developed a case of being lactose intolerant?? All baby is allowing me to eat is turkey bacon, potatoes, eggs and some breads....THAT'S IT! I really hope he or she gets the bigger picture soon and realizes there is a ton of other food choices;) Water is a no go too so I'm stuck on pedialyte for now. SO NASTY; but at least I can keep it down and it's keeping me hydrated.

That's pretty much it for now. We're settling up with our landlord tonight and doing last minute packing. I just pray that our travels with 2 dogs and a cat doesn't turn out to be a VERY bad idea:) Pray for our sanity the next 8 days and I hope everyone has a very good week!

Week 6 And A Slight Vent

This is my VERY sick belly at 6 weeks baby "G"

And boy have I been sick...My definition of morning sickness, before we got pregnant, was nothing like this. I've been nauseous ever since the beginning of week 5 and it's pretty much constant. However, images really accelerates my want to puke! In fact I had to take down a certain picture of food I posted on week 5. That plate of food tormented me night and day! My sister had to actually delete it and even now I get sick, thinking about blogging just because I associate my blog with that picture. Its terrible really. I have learned a lesson though that I will NOT ignore for the next 8+ months; NEVER take pictures of food that might come back to haunt you;)

(((WARNING))) Vent alert! Today was supposed to be our first doctors appoinment. SUPPOSED to be. It never happened. I was there on time, but instead of being seated until your called back to see a doctor, I was herded in the back with a LARGE group of other pregnant women. But not before they yelled out for the entire hospital to hear, that happend to be filled with soldiers, "all the pregnant women here for the O.B orintation group together." It was so embarrassing and so not special. Your were made to feel like a number and that your pregnancy was nothing new. I get that its not new to them. I do. But this is our first and it's new to us, so humor me okay? In fact we were told that there were just "so many pregnant women" right now that they had to group us all in a class instead of doing one on one appointments. Gee thanks. Make us all feel knocked up and 16. At least that's how I felt.

I walked out of the class because I was told I wouldn't be seeing a doctor before we PCS'ed. What was the point. I'll be 11-12 weeks before I see a doctor and thats me thinking positive. I have no idea how the military hospital works at Ft. Lewis. However the pregnancy forums I've been reading on that hospital and the O.B program are nothing steller. I'll apparently be shuffled around to different doctors the entire time (something I told (R) I would not have) and could wait long periods of time there too before I am seen. I am looking into seeing a civilian doctor once we get there to avoid all of this.

Okay, I'm done complainining:)

Nothing new this week except the morning sickness and I'm finally done at work! I've been having some really awesome cravings though! I want everything fruits and veggies and NOTHING sweet or greasy, ick!

Baby "G" is the size of a PEA this week!

TheBump.com says your growing like crazy and starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and a chin! Your little hands and feet -- still webbed like paddles -- might wiggle by week's end and your heart is beating; almost twice as fast as mine!

Keep up the good growing Baby. Mommy can't wait to meet you!

Week 5 Baby "G"

This is me at week 5 Baby "G"

I like to take these pictures in the morning. I think it's a true depiction of mommy's belly and just how big I'm getting. I think it's crazy how the minute I drink a glass of water or eat, even a light, breakfast my tummy blows up! However, this week I think I look smaller. That bloating is no joke!

Full disclaimer--I'm not in any rush for the baby bump to arrive. I know a lot of women can't wait and with good reason! But I don't need a visual to know you're in there baby:) I know my belly will pop out with abundant force soon enough, so for now, I'm just enjoying what precious time there is left with my wardrobe and agile body, haha! However, if week 16 arrives and my belly still looks like this, just try and keep me from all things candy bars and McDonald's;)

Symptoms: The past week has been a retreat. I've had a few new ones like blurry vision and clumsiness:) But most everything else has gone away or dulled in comparison. The ta ta's have grown in magnitude though. I am SHOCKED with how fast they blew up! Give it another week and I'll be shopping for a bigger bra! It really is true what they say "The ladies are always the first to go." I've definitely had a lot more energy this week and not so hungry, minus the last few days, lol...Still no morning sickness...

Cravings: Nothing too terrible or often. I can eat anything I want right now and it all sounds delish! I've backed off on my craving for fried pickles and breakfast food. This week really has been great. If I didn't know better, I wouldn't have known I was pregnant. Things seem normal!

Exercise: This week I've done a SMALL amount with weights, which is huge. I think I had myself really freaked put about loosing you if I did the slightest thing. I was worried about stretching too hard, lifting anything that engaged my core, sleeping on my stomach, lifting my arms above my head, etc. In my defense, I did have some spotting and cramping with you last week, but the lab tech was sure to tell me this is normal, especially when its right around the time Aunt Flo should be arriving. Turns out she was right:) So daddy is helping mommy build her arms this week! I figured I can at least have sexy arms while the rest of me gives over to you Baby:)

Weight: I toyed with the idea of keeping this tag out of my updates. I don't know any woman who likes to announce when she gains more weight, lol, but I think it's important to keep yourself accountable to your body and weight while pregnant. Remember, you're NOT eating for two no matter what they tell you. But truth be told, I have no idea what I weigh. The batteries died in our scale and I've been too lazy to replace them. The important thing is I still fit in my clothes! I'll start using the doctors written weight next week, ekk!

According to thebump.com, Baby "G" you are the size of an Appleseed!

I think that is a HUGE jump from the poppy seed you were just last week! You are starting to form major organs like your HEART, kidney, liver and stomach. In the world of systems, you're developing your nervous system, circulatory and digestive.

We go to our first REAL doctors appointment a week from today! I'm to expect all sorts of poking and prodding and questions, oh joy, but it will be good to speak with someone finally and make sure you're okay in there Baby "G".

For now, I bet you're floating around, enjoying all of that space;)

Smile Baby "G"

Mommy got a new camera! It's a Nikon Coolpix L120. I haven't had it for more then a day and I love it already! Daddy and I are going to a 4th of July festival at Calloway Gardens this evening to watch beautiful fireworks, maybe swim a bit, eat some yummy food and listen to a live band. I'll be testing out my new toy there and hopefully come away with some really awesome pictures to share:)

I'm more then ready to say "Goodbye" to using my fuzzy phone camera, as in here...These images are just terrible! Certainly not good enough to catch baby's shining eyes and spontaneous laughs. Daddy had a lot of say in the camera we picked; he'll be missing a lot of your first year antics Baby "G" but he wanted to make sure we had a super clear and quick camera to catch as much on film as possible! He also insisted on HD video recording to watch you in sweety pea. I can't think of a better use for high definition:)

Trusty Guardian

I just love this picture. It used to hang in my grandmothers dining room where I would play as a small child. Gramma once told me she too loved this picture as a small girl. She would visit her grandmothers house and fall a sleep watching the picture where it hung above a day bed. How old this picture is, I can only guess! I know it has been passed down 3 generations-- I remember just stare at it, imagining I was that little girl with her very own dog keeping watch. I wanted a dog so badly when I was small; now I have two:) The only information I have is the name of the print and it's very fitting, "Trusty Guardian." When it was printed and by whom I don't know. I wish I did...These would have been things to ask my grandmother before she passed away 2 months ago. I was given this picture after she passed with full excitement and every intent to hang it in my child's nursery-- Little did I know, that time would be very soon!

This is a much clearer picture of the one I have, just to give you a better look at the colors and detail. My reason for this post is to ask for your opinion! I know it's still early but I'm starting to think on nursery themes and I would like one based off this picture. I'm COMPLETELY stuck as to what theme would go with this! I don't really want a Victorian theme, which would fit because that is a Victorian child. I've tossed around the idea of a beach theme because the Saint Bernard is guarding the small child from crashing waves in the background but what are your thoughts? I would LOVE to hear them!

Week 4 &First Belly Shot!

This is me at 4 weeks Baby "G"

These blurry pictures are a lot of what I felt this morning while taking them; blurry eyed and not quite a wake. It doesn't help that my camera lens is all scratched from rumbling around in my over stuffed purse. I over slept for work today for the first time in YEARS! Hence the crazy hair:) Today marks 4 weeks though so I wanted to get this shot in before the bloating set in, Ha!

July 13th is our first doctors appointment! I am super excited to talk with them and ask them all sorts of questions. I have no clue as to what I'm doing Baby "G" so maybe these guys will help. I've been taking my vitamins ever since we found out and drinking SOOOO much water. Mommy needs to start using her coca butter though! This, in theory, will give me stretchy skin for you to grow sweety pea!

Symptoms: SO MANY! Tired, bloated, Crazy hungry, Short but painful headaches, Sore throat & runny nose, Sore ta ta's, Moody, Backaches, SUPER shortness of breath and can't forget the constant going to the bathroom:) No morning sickness though, yay!

Craving: Anything fried and heavy! I have been doing well with my eating for the past few days though. Not giving into those bad but oh so good cravings...

Exercise: Nothing too pa-dow right now.I work a lot at my current job. It doesn't really leave time to workout or build any sort of schedule. My last day is July 9th, so in 1 week 3 days that'll all change! Gotta keep Baby "G" and I healthy!

So far I feel really great! I know what you're thinking, "How could that be with all of those symptoms!" I actually enjoy them, it tells me I'm definitely pregnant and that my body's doing what it needs to, in order for the baby to stick!

P.S According to Thebump.com you are the size of a poppyseed Baby "G!" I can't believe you are that small but having such HUGE effects on mommy:)

Letter From Mommy

Dear Baby "G"

You certainly gave mommy a shock on June 24, 2011, the day I found out you were hiding in my belly! You are only 3 weeks and 5 days but already I'm protecting you and you don't even know it! See daddy's trying to nickname you "Al-g." Short for alien and our last name which starts with a "G." I refuse to call you that Baby "G." Mommy's looking out!

You must have really wanted us for parents Baby "G" because you came to us on our very first try!

You gave me those 2 beautiful pink lines at 6:20 am on a Friday morning. I know this because I was getting ready to watch daddy graduate his last cycle of soldiers. Daddy works for the U.S Army Baby "G." He's a pretty big deal to us and we're so proud of him:) He was so happy when I finally told him about you ! He was on the phone all night sharing your existence with EVERYONE; Your grampa's and gramma's and aunties and uncles. You have a really large family Baby "G" all to love on you and make you giggle and laugh!

Some women don't get pregnancy symptoms in as little as 3 weeks but Mommy has! You make me very hungry and tired and I use the bathroom a lot! I'm hoping these strong symptoms mean your a healthy baby and this will be a strong pregnancy. I am craving fried pickles 24/7 and have eaten breakfast food 3 times in 2 days! Mommy never does that Baby "G." I like variety and change so I definitely know you're helping me with my food choices:) Lets just try to make better decisions then oil soaked food and syrup on our eggs, potatoes, bacon and anything else we eat, mmmk?

Love,

Mommy
