A Step Towards A Better Me...

Lately I've been feeling overly stimulated by the Internet. I mean, do I honestly NEED a Myspace, Facebook, Blogger blog and 2 Email accounts, on top of already being a member of three forums that I post on, right long with being a subscriber to the Ft. Benning Army Wives Meetup Group (which I do think is necessary;p) WOAH! Now that I type this out, I realize why I am feeling exhausted by it all! As a result, I have been left feeling like it has been hindering me from enjoying more of the life that I have in front of me right now. I spend WAY too much time on these sites and its making me feel....Well OVERLY STIMULATED and guilty about how I'm spending my days...I've been neglecting a lot of the chores here around the house and even my own health because of it. I'd rather be on here then in the kitchen whipping up a balanced breakfast to get me through the hard work day. Its keeping me tense and stressed because I never catch up on my "to do's" while I'm on here...Well, after a long talk with the hubby last night, I made the decision to de-clutter my cyber space life and for a start, I deleted two of these accounts today; Myspace and Facebook..For those of you who were on those accounts, I do apologize but it was necessary to my sanity! I am keeping only 1 Email account (the one on here) my blogger page and the Ft. Benning Army Wives Group, seeing as it gets me away from my computer and out into the living:p It truly was a God send! Well, now that I have this off my chest, I feel better! The plan now is to slow things down and just go back to the simple things in life. i.e, my running, spending time with my hunny, walking my dog and not worrying that I need to reply to an email so she needs to hurry up and do #1&2. Nope, I got Bella to enjoy her and so I am going to enjoy her! I'm going to window shop, just because its relaxing and fun...And use that beautiful pool of ours to soak up the wonderful relaxing sun...Ahhhh...Its been 15 minutes since I deleted those accounts and I'm already feeling some of the stress of keeping it up, going away...

How about y'all? Do you ever get this way, where you have too much and just need to take a break? If so, what did you do about it?

  1. I have internet access at work all day so I tend to catch up and update while I'm here. When I'm not working of course! LOL. I rarely check myspace anymore, and I keep up w/facebook and email, but on the weekends, especially w/it being so close to my husband deploying right now - I am online very little. It can be too easy to get sucked into the 'net - I try to keep it to what keeps me sane!

  2. Girl, I get WAY overwhelmed with the internet and everything that comes with it, ex: blogger, facebook, etc. I definitely need to spend more time on other things and have noticed that I do spend way to much time on here and don't get enough done during the day!

Thanks for posting this.... it helped to open my eyes a little!

  3. I could never delete Facebook because I am obsessed with it, but I know you feel better getting rid of some of the internet stuff!

  4. Yeah, I've been there. Late this winter, I spent nearly all my time on the internet or playing video games. I did it kind of on purpose though, it was after R&R and I was pretty depressed and I wanted the distraction. Later on though, when the weather got better, I started disengaging from those things. I love the simple things in life too and try and keep everything in balance.

  8. I have one friend who deletes her accounts every 2 or 3 months in a rotation. I don't get to overly stressed because the computer has become my out. I use it to take a breath when my life get OVER STIMULATING! I am glad that ou have decided to give more time to other parts of your life. I am sure I will be doig the same when Hubby returns home anyways!

  9. I right there with you girl... I guess you haven't jumped on the Twitter Bandwagon yet- it's probably better that you don't. Don'tw ant you getting addicted and feeling overwhelmed again. I deleted Myspace too... just got to be kind of lame. No one hollered at me on there and I didn't holler at anyone either so I asked myself "what's the point". I posted a bulleton with my blog site for those people who cared to keep in touch and uptodate on the happenings of our lives.. So I gave the people the option! Not sure if anyone took it or not. But All the same simplifing is completely necessary from time to time! Good for you! =)

  10. I get stressed on here sometimes when I'm gone and then I have so much to catch up on. I also am on Twitter and I usually stay away on the weekends and once Matt gets home...so I feel stressed until I am caught up during the day! It's just my weirdness coming out though...like how I always want my inbox empty and the DVR at 0%. Never going to happen...

  12. I am fortunate enough to be stimulated at work by the internet... when I'm not busy. I only have this, email, and myspace. I only check my myspace about every other day and nothing really happens on there. I follow less than 20 blogs so its not too bad for me.

  14. Good for you for deleting Myspace AND facebook!! I deleted Myspace a long time ago, but I don't think I could ever get rid of FB. Especially with moving, I think that will end up being my main contact with a lot of people. But I do know what you mean. I get very overwhelmed with just this and fb. For instance.. you know that move I've been so stressed out about? I've spent more time on blogger than I have preparing for the move. Not Good.

  15. *** Replying to your comment on my blog... yes hubby will return in around 8 weeks or so! It has been a long long battle but amazingly enough I am surviving! Glad that the day is going well with you and that erasing some of your other accounts has given you more time to enjoy all the blogs! There really is a neat network of girls on this site!

  16. I use to spend most of my free time on the internet, but once I had kids I only get on when they are otherwise pre-occupied and don't want mommy around while they are playing.
