Today is my second day off and I'm already going stir crazy...I managed to go for a 1.5 mile run yesterday on my new found trail where I paid attention to the name this time; Heath Park its called. Yesterday was my run day and even though I'm sick, I still didn't want to miss it! It was a terrible run, full of short breaks, side stitches, period cramps, calves burning and shortness of breath. However, I went into the run not really expecting anything less so I wasn't too disappointed when I couldn't make the 2 miles. At least I got my rear out there right? I did push myself harder though by running faster so I'm guessing that's why I was experiencing shortness of breath and couldn't finish. Oh well, gotta take the good days with the bad days right! Now I want to go again but for a different reason today... The hubby has been holding out on his wifey, but not intentionally:p Apparently he's had one of those GPS Garmin watches I've been wanting! He bought it during his deployment in Iraq and its been sitting in his nightstand this entire time! Sheesh:p The watch he bought me two weeks ago isn't cutting the butter as its a whole .5 miles off when its counting my distance, so last night Robert showed me his watch and also how to use it. I cannot wait to get it out doors and give it a go! Too bad I'm cramping worse today then ever and also have sore legs:( Maybe just one mile?
P.S. Thank you all SOOOO much for your "get well" wishes and support for taking off a day I should have been working:) Love you gals!
that makes total sense about fat going to the places with less muscle. ive never ever thought of that! wooo. situps here i come! LOL! also, how freakin awesome is that watch?! dont you just love husbands when they hold out on the goods? LOL. i need to work on doing longer time periods though. i think tonight im going to try to go 5.5 for maybe 45 minutes or so....well, maybe 5 mph. LOL. we will see! you can definatley do a mile!!!! Pep talk yourself-out loud! Thats what i do when i think im going to die if i run any longer. its surprisingly motivating when you tell yourself"cmon baby. you can do it!Im stronger then this run. it wont beat me! " LOL imma dork , i know! :) anyways, good lucka and have fun with the watch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun new toy! Have fun using it soon :) Hope you feel better!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you aren't feeling well, but kudos to you for getting out there and running anyway!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I think the hardest thing to overcome is the realization that even tiny little workouts make a difference --whether it's one mile or ten, you're getting your heart rate up! :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, exercise tends to help with period cramping/etc. It's the one time of the month that working out seems to have the greatest effect! Also, it helps reduce some of the nasty bloating that we all seem to have right around that time! (ooor maybe it's that cookie I had with lunch.. hehe!)
So sorry you're still feeling icky! But you're right at least you got out there and ran! Proud of you ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he didn't tell you he had a Garmin watch! I would so enjoy running more if I had one of those cool gadgets! You'll have to tell me if you like it!
Good for you for getting out there, that is all that matters!
ReplyDeleteMy GPS for the car is a safety blanket for me! I didn't know they made them as a watch too! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI give you credit for running while sick! Anything you're able to do is better than nothing!
what a bummer you feel bad but GOOD FOR YOU for running! I always hate to miss a day too and I recently made myself work out while I had been throwing up, yuck! The things we do to ourselves! Have fun with the new toy!!
ReplyDeleteNo matter how far you went it is all about the effort :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on the run!! I'm so proud!
ReplyDeleteHey 1.5 miles is 1.5 miles! At least you went out and did it not to mention you're sick! Don't push yourself too hard though!
ReplyDeleteHahah so wait....did he tell you about the watch or did you find it?
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!
ReplyDeleteAs for the other watch, does it have a calibrate option so that its not .5 off? If son, don't do it on a treadmill. I calibrated mine on a treadmill and it was off .5 mile when i ran with it outside.
kudos to you for getting out there while feeling so miserable!! Where was your positive pep talk on Monday when I didn't go because I was TIRED???? I feel like such a wuss now ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment on my last post. I know things will simmer down with him in a couple of weeks.. and you'll one of the first to know when I'm coming down!
I read your post on another blog and my fiancee and I are staying at the Shades Of Green resort in Disney World. We have stayed there previously and it is really nice not to mention it is super affordable. Oh and congrats on the recent wedding!
ReplyDeleteThat watch sounds cool!
