I'm Going To Be Fired?!?

Well today ended up NOT being a run day:p I am taking another day to rest up the legs from that 4 miles on Saturday. I had every intention to run this morning but the legs are humming with that sore but good feeling. I already knew I wasn't going to be able to make it far so, instead, I took Bella on a 2 mile walk...I was so proud of her; she did a 15 minute mile! Hee Hee:)

On another note, I'm feeling a little lost today...I haven't posted anything about this particular event, just because it gets me down and worried, but maybe talking it out will help?

Things have been heating up at work and not in a good way...1.5 weeks ago our district manager (M) starts breathing down our necks about the fact that our percentages in reserves are really low...I'm not just talking about our store alone, its the entire district that is struggling...(A), my manager, comes to me last Wednesday after a "come to Jesus" meeting with (M) and gives me some disturbing news. (M) is singling out the employees that are not preforming with these reserves and (A) feels like those individuals will loose their jobs over it...Come again? WHAT! I am one of those individuals peoples! I talked to (A) about it. He knows the reason I'm not getting as many, as the others, is due to my lack of gaming knowledge. So here is my beef, why then was I ever hired! (M) and (A) knew that I had no knowledge in games when they gave me the job and there for had to know that I would struggle harder then the rest. I just don't know what to do ladies...I've had thoughts of finding other work, but am afraid that it'll take me ANOTHER 1.5 months just to do that...I've already settled in here and gotten over some huge hurdles...I'm not a quitter and I guess this just feels like I'm quitting...But do I stick around long enough to get fired? I've never been fired before and the thought of that just makes me want to bawl:(

Thoughts?

  1. Start looking!!! It doesn't sound like you are overly in love with your job, so just start looking and if something comes up, then great!

  2. with the job market being what it is - does it make sense to wait it out and hope for the best AND look for new work that you would enjoy more at the same time? this way you might find a great new job while you still have this one and will be able to give your notice instead of having to wait in an unemployment line. try not to worry too much even tho that's impossible!

  3. They really have no reason to fire you just bec you dont know anything about games. They hired you knowing that you didnt know anything. Unless you are absolutely in LOVE with this job I would start putting in applications other places. Keep this job at the game place until you find something that you love!! I don't see how you do it girl with that guy being ugly to you and now you think your on the verge of being fired. I would have gone crazy by now. All I can tell you is to do what makes you feel happy!

  5. yuck yuck yuck.. i hate that you are having to go through this. Nobody likes that feeling of getting fired, especially if you never have before. My advise would be to go ahead and start looking for something. That way you're prepared at least. Remember, everything happens for a reason. This could be the best thing that has ever happend to you.. you might find your dream job! Good luck hun.. i'll be thinking about ya!

    p.s.
I'm really sad that you won't be in town. I'm leaving after work to come down there on the 2nd but I won't make it in until around 10 and coming home on the 6th. Buutt.. unselfishly.. I am glad you'll be able to see your family :)

  6. What a crappy situation! I think you should stick around and see what happens, but that's just my opinion.

Let us know what happens. I'll be thinking of you!

  7. 1. Yay Becca!! :) She will make a wonderful running partner, I am sure.

    2. Talk to me about the job thing.. I don't know if I can match your current pay, but I need an employee (I just said something about this in our email thread).

    3. If you don't want to work for me defintiely get your applications/resume out NOW before they fire you and you don't have income while you are looking...

  10. First try to remember that just is a managers hunch. Managers have been wrong in the past. But to cover all of your options start searching for something else so just in case you do lose your job you aren't totally behind the 8 ball. I will keep my fingers crossed that things work out for you.

  11. I would definatly start looking for another job. That way if you find one you can just give notice and leave before they could even think of going ahead and firing you.

Don't worry about it. Just try to do your job the best you can.

  12. God, how stressful! I'll bet there's a better job out there for you, even with the economy.

  13. FIRST: rest is completely necessary after 4 miles! =) good for you girl.
SECOND: working is for the BIRDS! lol... seriously, this is not necessarily the best time to be looking for work. I would recommend you start shopping around your options... see what is out there- if you find something that you would like better than jump on it! If they do fire you (a-holes!!) than collect your unemployment with a smile, and continue to look. =) Don't stress girlie!

  15. Jeeeeez, what a mess. Very unfair that they knew you had no knowledge of gaming, hired you and now they might have to let you go????

I'm with everyone else. Start looking while you continue to work there. Who knows, you might find the perfect job for you.
I completely understand how scary it is! But everything will work out! Good luck with whatever you decide sweet friend!

And also thanks for the comment yesterday, you're so awesome!!! I'm going to try a trail jog today to see if my shins will let me ;)

  16. I'm so sorry to hear this!! It NEVER hurts to start looking...especially in this economy. If you find something you think you'd like better...I seriously don't think you as being a quitter. Your career is about you and what you want to do with your life. Moving on is NOT quitting.

  17. Oh no! I seems like everyone is having a hard time lately with work. So much stress! I would just start looking maybe to get a head start or prepare for the worst :(

I took Em on a two mile the night before last and ended up carrying her half way haha.
